Wholesale custom boxes are the same products bought at volume tiers, where the economics shift from digital printing to flexographic or offset production. Above a few thousand units, plate costs amortise, board is bought by the roll, and the unit price falls by a third or more.

  • Real volume tiers. Pricing steps at 250, 500, 1,000, 5,000, 10,000 and 25,000 units — quoted, not implied.
  • Plates and colour retained. Reorders match the original run because the tooling and draw-down are kept on file.
  • Scheduled release. Produce once, take delivery monthly — volume price without the storage problem.
  • One window, many sizes. A whole size ladder produced together qualifies for a combined tier.

What are custom boxes wholesale?

The crossover point is what matters. Digital printing is flat-priced per unit, so 100 and 1,000 boxes cost roughly the same each. Flexographic and offset carry a one-time plate charge, so unit cost falls continuously as volume rises. For most corrugated formats the crossover sits between 1,000 and 2,500 units.

Repeat-order consistency is the other reason to buy at wholesale. Plates are kept and reused, board is drawn from the same specification, and colour is matched to a retained draw-down — so the fifth order looks identical to the first. That consistency is very hard to guarantee across separate small digital runs.

Storage and cash flow are the constraints to plan around. A 10,000-unit order of 10 x 8 x 4 in mailers is roughly two pallets flat. Scheduled release — producing the full run once and drawing it down in monthly instalments — gets the volume price without the warehouse problem.

How to choose custom boxes wholesale

  1. Ask where the crossover is

For your format and colour count, find the exact volume where flexo beats digital.

  2. Combine sizes into one order

A size ladder produced in one window usually qualifies for a better combined tier.

  3. Use scheduled release

Two pallets of boxes is a real warehouse problem. Draw the run down monthly instead.

  4. Lock the specification

Retained plates and draw-downs are what keep reorder five identical to order one.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

At what quantity do custom boxes get significantly cheaper?
The crossover from flat-priced digital to plate-based flexographic printing usually sits between 1,000 and 2,500 units for corrugated, and around 2,500 units for offset cartons. Above that, unit cost falls continuously — typically by a third or more by 10,000 units.
What is the minimum for wholesale pricing?
Our wholesale tier starts at 250 units, with further price steps at 500, 1,000, 5,000, 10,000 and 25,000 units. The largest single reductions come at the flexographic crossover.
Where do I store a large box order?
Use scheduled release: we produce the full run once at the volume price and ship it in monthly instalments. A 10,000-unit order of standard mailers is roughly two pallets flat, which most brands cannot absorb at once.
Will my reorder look exactly the same?
Yes. We retain the printing plates, the board specification and the physical colour draw-down, so repeat orders match the original rather than drifting the way separate small digital runs can.
Can I mix several box sizes in one wholesale order?
Yes, and it is usually the right approach. A size ladder produced in one window qualifies for a combined volume tier rather than being priced as several small separate runs.
How long do wholesale runs take?
10–15 business days for most flexographic corrugated runs after artwork approval, and 12–18 for litho-laminated and offset work. Scheduled-release orders are produced once and then drawn down on your agreed calendar.
